The underground mines will initially be utilizing continuous miners & shuttle cars for development, leading to bord & pillar extraction of the target coal seams. To support this new project, the Company is looking for an:
Job vacancy: UNDROUND MINE ENGINEERING SUPERINTENDENT
To qualify for this position, the candidates should meet the following requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized University or similar Institution.
• Proven experience in an underground coal mining environment, in engineering and operations.
• Demonstrate an understanding of exploration techniques, ability to intepret regional and local geological trends and knowledgeable in geological modelling and development of coal deposit models.
• Demonstrate expertise in underground coal mine planning and layout for bord and pillar, shortwall, miniwall and longwall developments.
• Demonstrate expertise in formulation of Strata Management Control, with hands on capability in this field.
• Demonstrate expertise in gas detection, monitoring and management.
• Demonstrate expertise in underground ventilation design and management.
• Demonstrate expertise in the planning and layout of services required for an underground coal mine such as electrical reticulation, dewatering, compressed air, etc.
• Exposure to and experience in the capability associated with underground coal mining equipment such as continuous miners, shuttle cars, conveyor systems, shearers etc.
• Capable of developing capital and operating budgets associated with the planned underground coal mine
developments.
• Capable of undertaking detailed analysis of specific issues that arise, through a logical process of investigation, outlining findings, drawing conclusions and making recommendations.
• Capable of training and mentoring relatively inexperienced National geologists and engineers in the engineering fields associated with the underground coal mining environment.

The projects represent a challenging opportunity, developing a new workforce and mining methodology using a ride-on operated machine.
